About Me

B.D. Godard

B.D. Godard spent ten years in the Air Force in roles ranging from Security Forces to EOD augmentee to Historian—experience that taught him warfare is as much about moral complexity as tactical execution. After the military, he flew freight and then airlines, worked production control in aerospace and defense, and spent years in IT before realizing the most interesting problems couldn't be solved with logistics or code.

He returned to writing after a two-decade detour, drawing on time spent in the gym with Pararescuemen from the 67th ARRS at RAF Woodbridge. Listening to their stories and witnessing their brotherhood left a lasting impression. Those operators—among the most elite and least celebrated in special operations—inspired the character of Luis Cortez and the moral questions at the heart of Guardian Down.

Today, B.D. runs a commercial beekeeping operation with 2,000 colonies across California, Texas, and Wisconsin. He writes before dawn, works bees during the day, and reads philosophy, history, and thrillers late into the night. He was born in Rawlins, Wyoming, and still believes the best stories are about what people become when everything they were gets taken away.
